An artist must be transparent, authentic, vulnerable; if the process does not involve risk or fear, then he or she is not pushing their work to new heights. Art is not a luxury for the wealthy, but an essential practice within any healthy society and the mother of all invention.

There is a stunning beauty within the juxtaposition of life and death, what is raw with what is refined. A fragment of bone …  masticated, gnarled, “grotesque” …. this natural element is easily missed within our landscape. However, when this same element is elevated from the surrounding landscape and placed within the transparency of glass, a beautiful sonnet emerges. Combine what is controlled with what is chaos and the results are breathtaking; whether this be installing a given work of art in the wilderness or bringing this same wilderness into a given space, shape or structure.

My canvas takes whatever form necessary for a given direction; whether this is wood, a mannequin, a body or a traditional stretched cloth.
