“Ever since I was a child, I have been drawn to the wide open spaces of our surrounding landscape. Pushing my body to extremes, fighting with the elements ... there is just something so utterly compelling about the human figure within its natural context. This is my element, my joy and the canvas upon which I write.”
Foothills County is an immersive experience created by the artist in the wake of her recent exhibition ‘Sheep River’ this past July. A prolific creative force, the artist has created an entirely new body of work for this ebullient display, ranging from a series of photographs based on performances within the region to the evocative nature of her mixed media 2D works, installation and sculpture. The materials in this collection were all discarded, unwanted or rejected; from the clawfoot tub she hauled through the forest with host/patron and friend Jay Cross, to the tractor rim she individually transported into a barley field and the garments, objects and even paint used to capture each and every individual shot.
All of the artwork will be available for purchase and can be delivered after the close by the artist herself locally or shipped abroad. Jennifer will be in attendance on both dates to chat further and give a brief statement regarding this body of work. Guests will also be granted the opportunity to hike through the stunning property in order to view the artist’s large scale sculpture entitled ‘The Essex Serpent,’ a permanent installation in close proximity to the sheep river itself.
